Guangzhou’s Huangpu District launched a new hiking trail, the Changling Hiking Trail (長嶺國家登山健身步道) on July 18. This is the first national-level hiking trail in Guangdong Province.
The hiking trail is located at the Changling Street which is mountainous new town in the east of Guangzhou with a forest coverage of 50 percent. The first phase of the trail has a total length of 64.3 kilometres, covering four communities including Huangma, Huangdeng, Changping and Lingtou.
According to the design plan, the hiking trail consists of three sections and ten routes. The Lingdou section showcases the local agricultural ecology and is divided into a waterfront route and a mountainous route. The Changping-Huangdeng section is around a lake. The Huangma section mainly features the views and cultural experiences of local villages.
Thus far, the Huangma entrence, Lingtou entrence and Lingtou tea garden have completed construction and are open to the public.
Huangpu has been actively promoting rural revitalization. It has launched 20 major projects, with a total investment of about 11.08 billion yuan. The Changling Hiking Trail is one of these projects to boost rural economy.
