China welcomes tides of new dramas this year
Update: 2023-03-09     Source: Newsgd.com

In 2023, many new dramas will be released in China, including imported foreign plays and original Chinese performances. The list includes the Chinese version of the Russian musical Anna Karenina, the ballet Spartacus, the Chinese version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical The Phantom of the Opera, the musical Turandot, the musical Sanxingdui, the ballet White Snake, and the Chinese original musical I Am What I Am...

This was announced at the 6th Silk Road International League of Theatres (SRILT) Annual Conference and the 13th China Guangzhou International Performing Arts Fair (hereinafter referred to as the Guangzhou Performing Arts Fair), which was held from March 7 to 8 at the Guangzhou Opera House.

The SRILT will cooperate with various international theatre festivals, such as the Avignon Festival in France, the Santarcangelo Festival in Italy, and the Tbilisi International Theatre Festival in Georgia, according to Li Jinsheng, president of China Arts and Entertainment Group.

Additionally, eight national-level art troupes encompassing the Spanish National Dance Company, Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández, and the dance company of the State Academic Grand Theatre of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi will be invited to participate in the dance festival in China.

Mr. Nicolas Pillerel, the head of the Beijing French Culture Center, stated that France hopes to share its successful experience of combining arts with China, especially since next year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. This will promote the resumption of cooperation and inject special vitality into cultural exchanges.

Initiated by the China Arts and Entertainment Group, the SRILT serves as a large multinational platform for performing arts, and has 155 member cultural centers and theaters at present. Since its founding in 2016, it has displayed numerous quality performances from the Belt and Road countries in China and the world.
