The under-construction Qingyuan east railway station of Guangzhou-Qingyuan intercity railway will allow passengers to have a seamless transfer with the Qingyuan station of Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway.

Passengers of the intercity railway can take the escalator to get to the station hall on the ground floor, pass through the station square and arrive at the transfer station of Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway.
Located in the southwest of Qingyuan station, the Qingyuan east railway station will be built as a comprehensive transportation complex including high-speed railway, intercity railway, coach, bus, and taxi, to further enhance travel efficiency for passengers.
With a length of 38.2 kilometers and a design speed of 200 km/h, the Huadu-Qingchen section of Guangzhou-Qingyuan intercity railway opened to traffic on November 30, 2020. It takes less than 40 minutes from Qingcheng District of Qingyuan to Huadu District of Guangzhou.

As a vital part of Beijing-Hong Kong high-speed railway, the Wuhan–Guangzhou section opened in 2009 and operated initially at 350 km/h. It connects Wuhan and Guangzhou, the provincial capitals of Hubei and Guangdong.
